Bringing More Excitement to Japanese Sake
“Sake Festival Japan” is an event where visitors can explore and experience Japanese sake culture while enjoying local sake from across the country. Japanese sake is a profound traditional culture, the more you learn about it―the variety, the history of the breweries, and the dedication of the brewers―the more fascinating it becomes. However, domestic consumption of sake is currently on the decline. With this in mind, the event was planned as an opportunity for more people to experience its appeal firsthand.
The venue, Ueno Onshi Park, is a popular tourist destination, home to many museums and art galleries and well-loved by international visitors. In spring, the park offers comfortable weather, making it the perfect location to promote the charm of Japanese sake on one of the largest scales in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Beyond simply increasing opportunities to drink sake, the event also aims to inspire people to choose sake as a souvenir or gift from their travels.
Compare and Taste Approximately 200 Brands from Across Japan
Carefully selected breweries from across the country will gather at the venue, offering around 200 brands of Japanese sake. From sweet to dry, including limited editions and seasonal brews not normally available on the market, this is a rare opportunity to sample such an extensive lineup all in one place in Tokyo. At the tasting booths, visitors can try a wide variety of sake in small portions at affordable prices, making it easy even for beginners to find their favorite.
In addition, a wide range of gourmet foods from around Japan that pair perfectly with sake will be available, including noodles, fried dishes, seafood, rice bowls, and sweets. You can enjoy the unique collaboration of regional cuisine and Japanese sake.
On stage, live performances by idol groups and fun activities for the audience are also planned. Eating, drinking, listening to music, and relaxing in a springtime park while enjoying this combination of food and sake will surely become a special memory of your trip.
Recommended Ways to Enjoy the Event
One of the best parts of this event is sampling various types of sake in small amounts while chatting with the vendors about the flavor profiles and enjoying the pairing with different dishes. If you find a sake you like, you can purchase it on the spot to take home. Please note that popular brands are available in limited quantities, so early tasting is recommended.
The venue is within walking distance of both JR Yamanote Line “Ueno” Station and Keisei Line “Keisei-Ueno” Station, making it very easy to access. It is an ideal stop during sightseeing. This event is perfect not only for sake lovers, but also for travelers who wish to experience Japanese culture. Come and fully enjoy Japan’s traditional culture and cuisine in Ueno this spring.
